2011 Honda Civic Type-R

Many years ago, a very stylish British-built Honda Civic Type-R hit the streets, and drivers everywhere rejoiced. From the company's home base in Japan to the United States, Type-R has become a trim level of its very own.

The Type-R is only produced at Honda's Swindon site in the UK. The engine is coming under some fire overseas - the engine will be discontinued in most of Europe after this year, as it does not meet new, stricter emissions standards.

Honda CR-Z Turbo, Rumors or True

Honda is having so much success with their CR-Z, that the auto maker is planning to offer a turbocharged engine as an option for late 2011 for its CR-Z hybrid coupe. This forced-induction 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine may be offered in two different versions - which includes a 200-horsepower edition for the new CR-Z Type R.

This is not set in stone. These rumors were leaked online, but could possibly come from the Tokyo headquarters.

Honda Fit EV Gets Google Help

Last week at the Los Angeles Auto Show Honda unveiled their Fit EV concept. In conjunction with Google, Honda is working to make the prototype a mass produced car.

Managed by Enterprise, Google's "GFleet" is a car-share program including hybrids and plug-in hybrids, available to 2600 Google employees. The program is expanding to include electric vehicles launching later this year. The Fit is the first -  Honda is hoping to analyze the data that comes out of the program to test the changes to real world CO2 emissions. The fleet has about 30 hybrid and plug-in models already.
