Honda, in conjunction with Japan Metals & Chemicals Co., has found a new way to extract rare earth metals from nickel-metal hydride batteries that are commonly found in hybrid vehicles. The cool thing about this is that this is not an experiment for Honda, it is a process change that is ready to launch now.

In early 2013, Honda will begin providing the premier car-sharing program, Zipcars with more advanced technology and alternative fuel vehicles. The idea behind this move is that it will both attract new drivers to the Zipcars program who are looking for more affordable and cleaner methods of transportation, while also exposing the masses to the latest new Honda models.
