Honda, Seinfeld, Family Guy and Rules of Engagement

You might be thinking what these four this have in common, Honda, Seinfeld, Family Guy, and Rules of Engagement. Honda seems like the odd ball out but after launching their "Good Reasons" campaign, they all fit together. The connection is the over-the-top, comedic actor Patrick Warburton.

That's right. Honda has signed on Patrick Warburton to star in a series of new ad spots. Each unique spot is designed to support the automaker's new "Good Reasons" campaign.  Operative word: unique.

Honda Accord CR-V & Honda Element Get a Recall

In the spirit of keeping Honda drivers in the Glendale area as up to date as possible, Diamond Honda of Glendale would like to take a moment to talk about the elephant in the room. Yes, yes...we usually discuss breakthroughs in safety features and green technology, debut of concepts, new-car launches, and awards and accolades. Happily, those are the stories that define Honda as a company most. But, nobody is perfect. Case in point: Honda has issued a voluntary recall for certain Honda Accord CR-V models (2005-2010) and Honda Elements (2005-2008).

The potential problem with recalled vehicles has to do with the transmission. Specifically, overly aggressive shifting, which is sometimes needed to dislodge a vehicle from mud or snow, has been shown to damage the secondary shaft bearing. Should damage occur to the secondary bearing shaft, the vehicle may stall and/or the driver may have difficulty putting the vehicle into park.

In their press release advising the public of the recall, Honda indicates a total of 1.5-million vehicles in the U.S. are affected. Happily, Diamond Honda of Glendale (located at 138 S. Glendale Ave., CA 91205) is able to fix the problem, and/or prevent related issues from arising in the future, simply by reprogramming the in-car software that controls the automatic transmission.

Honda will be mailing official recall notices beginning on August 31. If you receive a notice, we recommend you bring your vehicle in at your earliest convenience, so that our team of experts may address the issue - even if you haven't had any problems yet. The service will, of course, be free of charge.

Honda reports, "No injuries or deaths have been reported related to this condition...When Honda identifies concerns of this nature, nothing is more important to the company than fulfilling our obligation and responsibility to alert our customers."1
